Overview of the Scholars Program

The Akurase Mpuntuo Scholars program is a partnership between Akurase MpuntuoFoundation (AMF) and Butterfly Foundation for Girls (BFG) to award tuition scholarships to brilliant but orphaned female tertiary school students from rural communities in Ghana.

The program aims to empower young girls from rural communities with quality education and prepare them to give back to the development of their communities. BGF provides the funding while AMF implements the program.

Scope of the Program

  1. The program covers the full tuition fees of beneficiaries in any Ghanaian public university.
  2. Beneficiaries will also receive continued support through mentoring, virtual learning, life and career coaching.
  3. Finally, the beneficiaries will have the opportunity to participate in community services and will be guided to implement give-back projects.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Akurase Mpuntuo Scholars Program, you should:

  1. Be a female who has lost one or both parents and lack the means to cater for your tuition fees.
  2. Be resident in any rural community in Ghana.
  3. Have completed senior high school and meet the admission requirements for any undergraduate regular program in any public university in Ghana;
  4. Or be currently enrolled on any undergraduate regular program in any Ghanaian public university with a CGPA of 3.0 or better, or a CWA of 60 or better.
  5. Demonstrate leadership potential.
  6. Be ready to go back to contribute to the empowerment of other young girls in your rural community.

I lost my dad in 2018 when I was in SHS(Methodist Girls High school) currently I’m a level 300 public health student in the university for Development Studies with a GPA of 4.2 even in the absence of some of my results. Well I didn’t let the obstacles stop from dreaming, I was the face of UDS first runner up through my talent and intelligence displayed on stage, and was a vice president candidate (SRC). As a queen I have impacted my community by establishing a girls club just to motivate young girls in my shoes.
