Akurase Mpuntuo TVET Scholars Program
The Akurase Mpuntuo TVET Scholars Program is a partnership between Akurase Mpuntuo Foundation and Lions Training Institute to award full tuition scholarships to deserving candidates from rural/deprived communities to pursue technical and vocational education and training courses at the Institute. The program aims to empower deserving candidates from such communities with current relevant skills to make them employable or entrepreneurial to reduce or end youth unemployment in such areas.

Objective
The program seeks to:
• Equip youth with practical skills in areas of high demand to increase their employment prospects.
• Empower scholarship recipients to become economically self-sufficient and positively contribute to their communities.
• Support the development of local industries by supplying a trained workforce.
• Enhance public awareness and accessibility of vocational and technical education, especially among marginalized groups.

Scope
The scope of the scholarship includes the following:
• The program offers full tuition scholarship for one (1) year courses listed below:
o Catering and Hospitality
o Fashion Design and Technology
o Media and Journalism
o Information Technology (i.e. Software Programming, Computer Networking, and Computer Fundamentals).
o Cosmetology
o Business and Management Studies (i.e. Aviation Management, Marketing and Brand Management, and Secretaryship and Management Studies).

Please note that this scholarship covers full tuition fees only, and that selected candidates will be responsible for the other fees listed below.

• Other fees to be borne by the applicants are:
o Application fee of 100 cedis;
o Hostel accommodation for students opting to live on campus at a rate of Ghc 1300 per semester. There are two semesters in an academic year with one semester running for four (4) months.
o Branded items such as uniforms (Lacoste shirts, aprons, coats, scrubs), which will be provided at a fixed additional cost; and
o Graduation fee, project fees, and other necessary fees.

• Scholarship recipients will also be provided with academic and career counseling services and supported with their personal development throughout the academic year.

Eligibility Criteria
The requirements for admission and scholarship are:
• No formal education is required to apply for the admission and scholarship. However, those with no formal education should have basic literacy skills.
• Persons with JHS, SHS, technical, or vocational certificates also qualify to apply.
• Again, degree, diploma, or certificate holders in need of vocational training qualify to apply.
• Applicants must be residents of rural/deprived communities in Ghana.
• One recommendation letter from a community leader, a church leader, and schoolteacher or master, or other notable community members is required for the scholarship. The recommendation letter should not be provided by a family member, and it should clearly state why the applicant should be given the scholarship.
• Copy of Ghana Card or Passport or any national ID Card.
• Passport sized photograph and copies of relevant certificates.

Note: Applicants who supply false information will be disqualified and referred to the appropriate security agencies in the country.
